 es are areas that counselors previously addressed during their own counsel
 or training\, backlash from culturally different clients who have yet to a
 ddress their own is common. This program examines theories\, research\, an
 d pedagogy for counseling and supervising culturally different clients\, s
 tudents\, and supervisees. Exploration of cultural biases in the existing 
 theories and current research is encouraged throughout this experience. Pa
 rticipants will actively participate in experiential approaches designed t
 o develop a higher skill base and advocacy skills when working with indivi
 duals from diverse backgrounds.  Participants in this course will also be 
 equipped with culturally competent best practices.\n\nObjectives:\nDescrib
 e the personal\, environmental\, and sociopolitical context of clients who
  are culturally different.   Demonstrates fairness\, equity\, and sensitiv
 ity to a diverse community.\nDemonstrate knowledge of attitudes\, values\,
  and behaviors of multicultural groups and factors that influence these.\n
 Gain knowledge of diversity issues including cultural\, disability\, gende
 r\, sexual orientation\, and aging issues.\nLearn how to promote sensitivi
 ty to cultural differences of familial groups being counseled.\n\nAbout th
 e Trainer:	Asha Dickerson\, PhD\, LPC\, NCC\, CPCS\n\nDr. Asha Dickerson is
  a Licensed Professional Counselor\, educator\, consultant\, and speaker b
 ased in Atlanta\, Georgia. Dr. Dickerson has worked with individuals and f
 amilies of all age ranges and her clinical and academic specialties includ
 e multicultural issues\, addicted families\, and blended family issues.\n
