  previously addressed during their own counselor training\, backlash from 
 culturally different clients who have yet to address their own is common. 
 This program examines theories\, research\, and pedagogy for counseling an
 d supervising culturally different clients\, students\, and supervisees. E
 xploration of cultural biases in the existing theories and current researc
 h is encouraged throughout this experience. Participants will actively par
 ticipate in experiential approaches designed to develop a higher skill bas
 e and advocacy skills when working with individuals from diverse backgroun
 ds.  Participants in this course will also be equipped with culturally com
 petent best practices.\nAbout the Trainer: Dr. Asha Dickerson\, PhD\, LPC\
 , NCC\, CPCS is a Licensed Professional Counselor\, education consultant\,
  and speaker based in Atlanta\, Georgia. Dr. Dickerson has worked with ind
 ividuals and families of all age ranges and her clinical and academic spec
 ialties include multicultural issues\, addicted families\, and blended fam
 ily issues.\n\nObjectives: \nDescribe the personal\, environmental\, and s
 ociopolitical context of clients who are culturally different.\nDemonstrat
 es fairness\, equity\, and sensitivity to a diverse community.\nDemonstrat
 e knowledge of attitudes\, values\, and behaviors of multicultural groups 
 and factors that influence these.\nGain knowledge of diversity issues incl
 uding cultural\, disability\, gender\, sexual orientation\, and aging issu
 es.\nLearn how to promote sensitivity to cultural differences of familial 
 groups being counseled.\n\nCancellation: Refunds available up to July 1\,
